Back in 2019, I made a few decisions that felt smart at the time: I cut carbs, embraced intermittent fasting, and swapped breakfast for my morning latte.
Thank you for sharing! Definitely fallen in to diet trends over the years as a child of the 90’s and fat free everything. Then when the internet allowed anyone and everyone to tell you what “wellness” looked like, it’s been a wild ride! Definitely continuing to learn what my body needs and what works best for me!!
Thank you for this article ! When I was a young teenager, I also really struggled with a disordered relationship with food. I began skipping lunch and snacks because I thought it would make me healthier ,when in reality it just caused me a plethora of problems. It is so valuable that you provide an account that promotes food as something to enjoy and nourish our bodies, instead of something to fear. 💕💕
I like that you pointed out that the original thinking is often about being healthier! We often don't set out to deprive or restrict but then line gets blurred. Thank you for your kind words about my account — I am so glad that message comes through!
Thank you for this article. For me it cut through the BS of fading diets. As a women, I follow you for exactly this perspective, one of health and confidence over surface level health that is fed to us!
I am so happy to hear that you appreciate my perspective on food and health!🤍 I am grateful for the years I spent chasing different fads even though they didn't work for me because they taught me to appreciate what true, full-body wellness FEELS like, not what it looks like. Now I am much more aware of fad diet marketing!
Great insight, I too have sometimes did a keto type diet and didn’t feel as good. I have added carbs back to a lifestyle of having meals with protein, fats, and carbs to balance blood sugar. I am realizing that a protein shake with fruit, flax seed meal, coconut yogurt and collagen peptides or pumpkin protein powder works great for breakfast.
I’m glad you’ve found what works for you!! It’s hard when everyone is promoting a certain diet (as was the case with the keto diet for years) to really listen to what makes you feel your best. Your protein shake sounds amazing!
Thanks for sharing, Olivia! My journey to a healthier life started with trying to follow every new trend and diet to discover what would make me feel good. Through a lot of trial and error, burning out, and losing my period, I discovered the secret to living a healthier life: wholesome, nourishing foods and a focus on balance can go a long way! Now, I’m a healthy food blogger who focuses on fueling your body well to have the energy to do what you love! It’s been a journey, and I’m thankful for all I’ve learned so far.

It's a miracle anyone made it out from under the 90s influence without disordered thoughts about food! I'm so glad the narrative has changed.
