As someone who has built an entire business around my ability to develop and create recipes, film myself cooking them, share them on my social channels, and show up consistently for my community, I was very curious to see how motherhood would change my relationship to work.
Thank you for sharing this! I've really enjoyed your posts about motherhood and thank you for your vulnerability in sharing 💕 Another post I would love to read (if it aligns with your content, of course!) is how you decided to become a mother... my husband and I are both entrepreneurs and are trying to decide, if anything helped you 💖😘
I can totally relate to the decision not being easy and automatic. We put a lot of thought and intention into when we would start trying and I’m glad we waited to have a child until we did because it really has changed everything about our lives and our work and there would have been a lot more sacrifices on the work front if we would have done it any sooner. We felt like it was the right time professionally when we had hired some key roles within our business that would allow us some flexibility to be less in the weeds and take “time off” )which I put in parentheses because, as you know, time off is more of a concept than a reality as an entrepreneur ha) once we had a baby. Watching entrepreneurs that we respected have children and continue to successfully operate their businesses gave us confidence that we could do the same. Since we don’t live near family, we also wanted to wait until we felt like we were in a good place financially to be able to hire the help we would need. We really did get to a point where we felt like we were ready. I know people say “you’ll never feel ready so just do it” but I don’t really subscribe to that advice. Totally just depends on your goals though! We are very passionate about our work and wanted wait until we felt confident that work could continue on with the right systems and team members.
I appreciate you sharing this article and your thoughts. Balancing work and motherhood is a concern of mine for when my partner and I start our family. We both work in-office corporate jobs 5 days a week, so juggling it all feels overwhelming. I worked really hard to get to where I am but at the same time being a mom feels like something I am more passionate about and love the idea of being there for all the moments. I feel like women are scared of talking about this for the risk of seeming not like a feminist but in reality I think it just shows the complexity of being a woman in 2025.
Love this! Thank you for sharing your heart. I’m a nurse and when my son was born I transitioned into a different role (and several others as he’s gotten older) to make sure I could be present for him and support his needs as well as still find joy in my career. ❤️ she’s precious and enjoy every moment! My son starts 7th grade Monday and I can’t believe how quickly we have gotten here!
Loved this post. I’ve learned that my type A personality has to take a backseat at times and that doesn’t mean I’m a failure. It just means that I need to let certain things go to spend more time with my kids. Also once she gets older, learn your child’s love language. It has been immensely helpful with my kids! One loves physical touch, one needs words of affirmation, and the other one craves quality time. It helps me navigate how to best love on each of them.
Love this and proud of all these life lessons. Every new season of life forces us to adapt, and it sounds like you're doing a great job of that. Hope I get to meet baby suede next time I'm in Austin! Congrats mama.

She is the perfect mix of you and Kyle ☺️
